The Benning Bass Club, BBC, located in Columbus, Georgia, is the nation’s premier bass fishing club in the Bass Federation, TBF. The TBF is the oldest independent, grassroots bass fishing organization in the United States. Currently, the TBF has a strong relationship with the nation’s largest professional bass fishing tournament trail, FLW Outdoors. The BBC hosts local bass tournaments, supports environmental/conservation issues, supports a junior bass club, and enjoys several social activities in Eastern Alabama and Western Georgia.
The club was established in 1972 by a few military personnel and currently has over 30 active members. Membership in the club in open to all military, retirees, honorably discharged service members, DoD civilians, and family members of those groups. Family members have to be at least 16 years old.
Individuals do not have to own a boat to be a member of the club. The club brings together dedicated bass fisherman in the area to promote bass fishing, to improve the angling knowledge and skills, and to experience the camaraderie and fellowship from time spent together. In addition to fierce tournament competition, the club supports numerous charities, a junior bass club, and is engaged in environmental and conservation issues.
The club schedules two meetings and at least 10 or more tournaments a year. Additionally, there are charity tournaments, support for the junior bass club tournaments, and social activities. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday’s of each month at 1830 hours at the VFW on Victory Drive in Columbus, Georgia.
